I was just on the Tobias web site reading and it said there would be a new front tire and rr all so said something about a new motor with better oil pump. I was just wondering if anyone herd any rumors about what some of these differences will be. Like will the new motor make more hp will the new tires look like real dirt track tires and anything on the new fly wheel.

From what I understand they are just installing new oil pumps for a longevity stand point, it wont breakdown as quickly. It wont do anything for horsepower. The tires looked to be a lot bigger and wider from what I have seen at the meeting. As far as the flywheel I understood its being tested at Briggs and Stratton.
If anyone else has any input or information please post.

From what I was told the tires may be released some time this month. i heard the same that they are quite a bit bigger. Did anything ever happen with the chassis adjusters that Tobias wanted to make?

I really dont know. It was proposed that the cost was only going to be about $100 from the e mail that we got from Tobias. As far as what it does or where its going to mount no one that I talked to really knows

The new tire is supposedly 1" wider than the old one but it is definitely taller looking in person also. The chinese size their tires funny by brand sometimes as they don't have to meet any kind of requirements. We've seen similar things with the Duro tire already. So now you will end up still with 3 different tire sizes (all chinese) instead of the 2 Carlisle fronts/carlisle LR. It was said at the meeting that the racing was never better than the old days of the 3 16x6.50's and 18x8.50 tire. I tend to agree, the Duro tires have alot more grip and forgiveness to them which is the opposite of what these cars are made for.
The flywheel thing missed the mark completely. Those who were for it seemed far and few between, those who opposed it knew nothing about it or had strange agendas and skewed views of it. Basically it was said that the widely successfully readily available aluminum flywheels that are already out there are forever illegal. Briggs is working on a safer alternative to the stock one that would be sold to SE somewhere in the future... maybe. Which would ensure a profit to be made between the two off of the racers who basically would benefit from the product already in production the most.
The cockpit adjuster went over like a fart in church, i've never actually seen so much anger towards a potential idea proposal before. I would say less than 5% of racers actually want this but Tobias himself who proposed the idea seemed pretty intent on making it a possibility in the future and like he said as a "mission statement" he is in business to make money. Nobody could figure out what it was exactly but it appears to be some kind of coil over screw to stiffen/soften the RR. This would help to give the cars more traction and make them easier to drive. The exact opposite of what the cars are made for, also the exact opposite of what the aluminum flywheel gives you which was shot down. Irony at its finest.
The new engines don't have any better "go fast" parts in them. They have changed the flywheel shrouding recently and made the flywheel heavier with a better fan (cooling wise). I haven't proven much difference to justify running one or another flywheel yet. The only thing that could be a factor with regard to power and an improved oil pump design is if it creates more parasitic drag inside the engine to accomplish its goal. The oil pump after all is driven by the cam gear/crank gear. Any time you drag the spinning free capability down on this you will have a parasitic power loss. Most of this will be marginal and i would certainly jump at the chance to test a stock new motor and an "old" one with the same carb/pipe/fuel combo to see what comes up.
