Congratulations to Simon Egan and the entire S&S Speedways family on your Victory in Atlantic City.
In my opinion other than the obvious for those who came to watch the races this past weekend, I thought the venue was the best it has been in years. The idea of taking the guard rails down was not only safe for All the competitors but made for some awesome racing!! The track seemed much faster and the visibility as a driver was great. You had more time to react if something happened ahead of you, hence more cars actually finishing the race.
Now, I need to apologize for my driving by first mentioning my bumping of the 17 car during the feature race. That's not my style and by NO means was it on purpose. Some words were exchanged after the race with the owner/father of that driver under EMOTION mainly due to being under the duress of so much going on I really didn't remember doing it (which is NO excuse but it is the only 1 I have) but after watching the video on you tube, I clearly made contact. Whether he checked up at an instant or not, I was told by others "that's AC and that's close quarter racing" (doesn't make me feel any better but I can't change that it happened.
As for my actions with the 18 car. The story was a little different, and the video clearly shows why, but drag racing him down the front stretch maybe I should have given him a little more room. I personally have sent both drivers messages and apologized for my actions. EMOTIONS get the best of ALL drivers under circumstances. Its the PASSION of the sport. As for the actions that happened later that night with the owner of the 18 car, we had a drink together and discussed what happened and why. Things are OK between us and we both have agreed to move on.
Again Congrats to Simon of taking the first checkers of 2012!!
